World Cup dream is over… FOOTBALL IS NO LONGER A BEAUTIFUL GAME

No more World Cup Qualification for Trinidad & Tobago ever again! The US, in its pursuit of Jack Warner, is doing its utmost to ensure that this is so by concocting the most bizarre World Cup Qualification scheme ever conceived by any Football Confederation.
Based on this new scheme the US will never have to face Trini- dad & Tobago ever again as it did on November 17, 2017, when they lost 1:2 to Trinidad & Tobago and were knocked out of 2018
FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The USA has never overcome the humiliation of that defeat nor have they yet overcome the humiliation they faced when they lost to Qatar in their bid to host the 2022 World Cup; and for which loss to this day they still blame Jack Warner.
Unfair match schedules
When the US lost the World Cup qualification for Russia, many negative things were said about your country like, “we lost to a team you can’t even see on the world map”; “US population 323.1 million, Trinidad & Tobago population 1.3 million and they just eliminated us from the World Cup”; “it is not fair that the US has to play against both Trinidad & Tobago.” And there were many more insulting remarks which I am sure your newspaper is loathed to publish.
In order for a Trinidad & Tobago/USA elimination not to ever happen again two men at CONCACAF, Sunil Gulati, who had resigned as the President of the United States Soccer Federation following the US defeat in 2017 and who is now the de facto President of CONCACAF, and CONCACAF’s de jure President,Canadian Victor Montagliani met and hatched a plan to destroy your country’s football ambitions. Both Gulati and Montgliani held a secret meeting in New York several months ago and they came up with a plan to eliminate Trinidad & Tobago from the 2022 World Cup before a ball has even been kicked.
The plan is a departure from CONCACAF’s previous World Cup qualifications. It is elitist and racial in outlook. The plan involves a hexagonal format comprising six teams – USA, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, Jamaica and Honduras based on the FIFA Rankings playing a single round-robin group.
Of the six teams, the top three in the Hex will qualify for the World Cup Final by playing only 5 games each and the fourth-placed team will play against the Caribbean winner who has to qualify from some 27 countries, since Jamaica has been included patronisingly in the Hex to dispel the reality of race and color and elitism – all of which has now creeped into CONCACAF football. But the FIFA Rankings which started in December 1992 is flawed and has been revamped several times. Why therefore rely on this flawed system of World Cup qualification?
Unlike previous years, not one player from the Caribbean even made it to this year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup Best 11 – there were 7 players from Mexico; 3 from the USA and one from Canada. Caribbean referees are now rarely appointed to CONCACAF competitions and the same applies to other Caribbean officials in CONCACAF activities. What a sad state of affairs for Caribbean football and the Caribbean Football Union (CFU)! The last CFU Congress was held in Hungary in
2013 courtesy Sepp Blatter. There has been none since.
T&T vs. US, never again
The CFU offices are now in Barbados and Jamaica (having been moved from Trinidad & Tobago) and the officers there are being paid by CONCACAF for doing nothing for Caribbean football, so no one in authority in the Caribbean wishes to rock the CONCACAF football boat.
Based on the present scheme of things your Trinidad & Tobago will never ever meet the US again, not even in a friendly. But more importantly, the countries with the least resources are now being asked to play the most World Cup Qualifying matches while those with the most resources like USA, Mexico, Canada, Costa Rica, and Honduras will be playing the least amount of matches. This is racism in football at its worst. This is economic strangulation for the poorer countries.
No more shithole countries from the Caribbean in the FIFA World Cup Finals
No other Confederation even remotely has a similar World Cup qualification system. Africa has
52 countries in its membership, UEFA has 51 and Asia has 46. Not one of them has a World Cup Qualifying system like CONCACAF. Theirs, like the CONCACAF of old, are more equitable and are played in groups of six or eight countries depending on the number of countries in a Confederation. Because of the equitable system in CONCACAF, Jamaica could have qualified for the World Cup in France in 1998, Trinidad & Tobago in Germany in 2006 and, in UEFA, Luxembourg in 2018, the smallest nation ever after Trinidad & Tobago to qualify for a FIFA World Cup Final. In the new CONCACAF, this is no longer possible. No more shithole countries from the Caribbean in the FIFA World Cup Finals.
Formally complain
How a Confederation that comprises 31 members from the Caribbean, 7 from Central America and
3 from North America can sit by and quietly accept this football injustice is mind-boggling!
Apart from Dennis Lawrence, your country’s national senior coach, not one football official in the Caribbean has protested against this injustice. Not Even the President of the T&TFA, David John Williams. Lawrence is quoted as saying that “Trinidad & Tobago will now have to play every game as a final. It will now be a lot more difficult in terms of the Road to Qatar 2022 and you will have a lot of work to do to get into the top six. “ So very true Dennis, so very true! But who is there in the Caribbean to speak out for you or at best to write to FIFA and complain? Regrettably no one. An environment of hopelessness now pervades Caribbean football. No more will any advertiser invest any substantial sum to allow a Carib- bean team to be properly prepared for a World Cup. No longer will the poorer and lowly placed teams play against the rich ones in the North and Central American regions and be able to boost their incomes especially from TV rights. In fact, no team in the higher echelons of football will want to play against Caribbean teams if they do not stand a chance of qualifying. But honestly, this has nothing to do with little countries like Barbados, Antigua, Grenada, and Guy- ana; teams which had begun to rise during the Warner administration.
These teams are just collateral damage because the real target is Jack Warner and the country in which he lives. It really is a “Get Jack at all cost” policy by the US and if, for some reason, you can- not get him, then Get Trinidad & Tobago!
Caribbean Football and its President Randy Harris of Barbados, as well as Michael Ricketts of the Jamacia Football Federation, need to stand in condemnation of this restructured path by CONCACAF to qualify for a World Cup and the sooner they do so the better inclusive of formally complaining to the FIFA. But then again, that and God’s face one will never see!
Both Harris and Ricketts have lied publicly and have said that there was a meeting of the Caribbean countries on the matter and that the Caribbean agreed to this football charade of a CONCACAF 2002 World Cup Qualifying competition. They have sold out Caribbean Football for a few pieces of CONCACAF silver.
But the Caribbean and in particular Guyana’s football should be consoled by the fact that God does not sleep.
